Born in Auckland in 1944, Morrison was one of New Zealand's most outstanding photographers for more than two decades. He began work as freelance photographer for the Listener in 1971 following a stint overseas in the 60s. In 1975 he photographed Thorndon buildings and personalities for the Thorndon Calendar 1976 (Thorndon Society, Wellington) and his first book, Images of a House (Alister Taylor) was published in 1977.
Morrison's intense and dramtically lit photographs showcase all walks of rural and urban life. He photographed New Zealand from the road and up-close in homes and around town. Morrison died very young at 48 in 1993.
